Dan was the best brother anyone could hope for. Growing up in his protective shelter, I always knew I could count on him. He was constantly curious and involved, and interested in everything imaginable. He took life's challenges seriously and at the same time always had a ready laugh. He was a great storyteller and would talk your ear off if you let him, but the amazing thing about those long stories was his mental acuity. He could manage a multitude of thoughts simultaneously and never lost track of the punchline. Dan was untiring in his care for others, and enriched the lives of countless people. He was always looking for a better way forward. Although Dan has left us far too soon, we can find comfort in knowing that he led an admirable life of respect and love for his family, and beyond this, respect and love for his fellow human.

Dear Wendy, I am so very sorry to hear of Dan's passing. I have many fond memories of spending Friday nights and/or Saturday nights at your house at Blue Lake. You, Dan and your mom and dad will always remain a large part of my growing up memories. Fondly, Becky Darr Parker

Prayers for the family I knew Dan from the Call Leader he came in with people he was trying to help out and get on their feet. He was well known for his kindness and loving to talk he never knew a stranger. He will be greatly missed by many.

My husband, Bill, and I started our company, The Advertiser, in 1980. Bill went to Star Bank to get a loan which he thought would not be any problem. We had no business plan but great dreams. Dan was a loan officer at the bank. I think he was assigned to give us the bad news. NO, we cannot loan you anything....and we needed $ by the next week to mail our second edition. But when Dan and Bill met, Dan had a soft spot for our idea. He knew it could work. So instead of telling us 'no', he helped us convince the bank to fund our company. About 6 months later, he came to work for us. We couldn't believe our luck in having such a qualified person believe in us and want to help us. Back then, Dan was not too much of a 'God' guy, but we knew he was the answer to our prayer. We will never forget him.
And another story......we had 2 sons ages 3 and 5. Our finances were stretched to the limit and vacations were not something that was possible. Dan recognized that we needed a little 'downtime'. He had a small cabin (I can't even remember where it was now). There was a small stream running out back but it was big enough for two tykes to enjoy. He let us have his cabin for a weekend and took care of things at The Advertiser while we were gone. I'll never forget his kindness.
Dan, you will be missed.

Chari, David, Andrew, I spent many double dates with your parents way back when. We always had a great time. My husband and I loved your dad like a brother. I pray God gives you peace and comfort. Hang on to each other.
