Harold R. Shannon, Jr., 79, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 8:12 a.m., on Sunday, May 6, 2018, at his home.
Born in Fort Wayne, on August 26, 1938, to the late Harold and Edna (Ramsey) Shannon. He spent his formative years in Fort Wayne and graduated from Central Catholic High School.
After high school he served in the United States Army.
Harold was a Fort Wayne Police Officer from 1967 until his retirement in 1999. He was an officer that loved to be in the car on the street.
He was married to Dawn Quinn, in Fort Wayne, on February 10, 1973.
He loved to play pranks on people. He was a “good man” and took care of his granddaughter, Heather, making sure she never missed school.
Harold is survived by his wife, Dawn Shannon; three sons, Joe (Stacy Simons) Shannon, Michael (Becky) Shannon and Bart (Therese) Byerley; a daughter, Kristina Bennington; two sisters, Nancy Milholland and Sherry Doan; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Shannon and Edna Steward; a daughter, Jamie Sue Byerley and a grandson, Blake Bennington.
Calling will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Thursday, May 10, 2018, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
Services will begin at 6:00 PM, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Thursday, May 10, 2018.
