Richard “Dick” Harold Magnuson, 80, of Albion, passed away at 7:20 a.m., on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
Born on April 10, 1938, in Noble County, he was a son to Kenneth and Mildred (Hoffman) Magnuson. He spent his formative years in Noble County and graduated from Albion High School in 1956. After high school he served in the United States Army Reserve.
Dick was married on April 30, 1971, to Deanna J. (Smolek) Perry at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Albion. She preceded him in death on April 16, 2014.
He was a truck driver for Excel Distribution, traveling the tristate area. He retired after 40 years on the road.
He was a member of the Sugar Grove Church of God and the American Legion Post 246 in Albion.
Dick loved his family, church, reading his Bible, which he read completely through 30 times, fishing and motorcycles. He enjoyed making his rounds to the coffee shop, Marathon gas station, golfing and working in his shop maintaining his power tools.
Dick is survived by three daughters, Tammy (Magnuson) Luce, Chrissie (Charlie Henard) Magnuson and Christine (Bill) Gisel; a son, Scott (Teresa) Perry; a special friend, Judy Sarrazin; a sister, Jean Shanabarger; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by a son, Derek Magnuson; a grandson, Kaleb Luce; a brother, Robert Magnuson and a sister Joan Applegate-Geinger
Visiting hours will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Friday, May 25, 2018, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Calling also one hour prior to the service.
Services will begin at 11:00 AM, at Sugar Grove Church of God on Saturday, May 26, 2018.
Burial will follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
