C. George Stilwell, 80, of Churubusco, passed away on December 6, 2020, at his home.
Born in Fort Wayne, on June 17, 1940, to the late Clifford and Bertha (Wilson) Stilwell. He spent his formative years in Fort Wayne, graduating from South Side High School in 1958.
George was married to Sally Gick in Fort Wayne, on January 15, 1966. The couple moved to Churubusco in 1995.
He worked as Chief of the Fire Shop, for the Fort Wayne Fire Department, retiring after 32 years of service.
George had a passion for racing that included racing in the USAC Stock Car Division. He lived in his garage and even built four motorhomes from the ground up. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
George is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sally Stilwell; his five children, Judi (Tom) Leon, Jerry (Diane) Teague, Randy (Karin Bouza) Stilwell, Sally (Jeff Crabill) King and Jeff (Eva) Stilwell; a sister-in-law, June Stilwell; eight grandchildren, Sarah (Josh) Keck, Andy Leon, Nicole (Adam) Kinzel, Matt (Megan) Stilwell, Holli (Brandon) Hattery, Kristin King, David Stilwell and Dylan Stilwell; seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gregory Stilwell.
Services will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive friends on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Burial taking place at Lindenwood Cemetery, with Firefighter Honors.
