Alberta Ruth Malcolm, 90, of Columbia City, passed away at 5:15 pm on Monday, December 16, 2013 at Coventry Meadows in Fort Wayne. Alberta was born on March 12, 1923 in Churubusco, a daughter of LeRoy and Lilah (Brumbaugh) Veazey. On July 25, 1942 she was married in Columbia City to Maurice E. Malcolm. She was employed at General Electric, as an Inspector and retired in 1983 after 33 years. Alberta was a member of the Columbia City Church of the Brethren, the Womens Fellowship, and also the Town and Country Homemakers Club. She was a past President of the G. E. Quarter Century Club as well as the G. E. Elex Club of Honorettes. She sang in the Church Choir and in the Sounds of Fellowship. Her spouse preceded her in death on January 14, 2006. The surviving relatives include daughter - Gale (Craig) Vance of Fort Wayne; three sisters - Deloris Parker of Naples, FL, Roedean (Keith) Dowell of Columbia City, and Dixie Alexander of Columbia City; granddaughter - Christina (David) Brown of Fort Wayne; grandson - Douglas (Susan Ebbing) Gaunt of Fort Wayne; great-granddaughter - Brooke Gaunt of Fort Wayne; great-grandson - Jacob Gaunt. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at Columbia City Church of the Brethren,112 N Washington St, with Pastor Dennis Beckner, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Columbia City Church of the Brethren from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm Friday. Burial will be in the Nolt Cemetery, Columbia City.
