A. Irene Dove, 98, a former resident of Huntertown and widow of Paul D. Dove, passed away at 11:13 p. m. on Monday, August 17, 2015, at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville. She had been a resident there for the past eight years. Mrs. Dove was born in Jefferson Township in Noble County on March 19, 1917, a daughter of Henry Arthur and Naomi E. (Penn) Pfafman, and spent her formative years near Avilla. She graduated from Avilla High School in 1934 and was married in Noble County on June 2, 1935 to Paul D. Dove. The early years of her marriage were spent in Noble County before moving to Eel River Township in Allen County in 1948. She had lived most of her adult life there until moving into Huntertown in 1987. Later in her life she graduated from St. Francis College, and earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from there. She was a teacher at the LaOtto Elementary School for 13 years, retiring from there in 1983. A member of the Huntertown United Methodist Church, she was active in its United Methodist Women, and was also a member of the Huntertown Homemakers and the Indiana State Retired Teacher's Association. Mr. Dove preceded her in death on January 15, 1974. The surviving relatives include five children L. Duane (Sarah) Dove of Santa Rosa, CA, Michael K. Dove of Philadelphia, PA, Linda (William) Archer of Schererville, Sharon (Rev. August) Lundquist of Fort Wayne; and Rick P. (Susan) Dove of Rock Hill SC; daughter-in-law Carolyn Dove of Kendallville; a sister Carole Grove of South Bend; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Larry L. Dove; a sister Helen Flickinger; her brother Royal Pfafman; a granddaughter Deanna Breese; two brothers-in-law Gaython Flickinger and Lester Grove; and a sister-in-law Ethel Pfafman. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at the Huntertown United Methodist Church, 16021 Lima Rd., with Gabrielle Ginder, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 11 a. m. until the hour of the service. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, southeast of Albion.
