Alma "Joan" Bingham, 89, of Churubusco, left us on March 31, 2025, at Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw.
She was born May 18, 1935, in Wolf Lake to the late Lloyd D. Richards and Juanita N. (Davis) Richards.
Alma was united in marriage to Donald D Bingham on May 18, 1954. Don preceded Alma in death on May 29, 2023, after 69 years of marriage.
Alma was known to close Friends and Family as Joan. Churubusco High School employed Joan for over 30 years. The majority of her employment was spent in the kitchen, followed by her remaining years at CHS as a Custodian. Throughout her entire career, she was known by most, especially the students, as "Shorty." But by her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren, she was proudly known as Grandma JoJo.
She spent many years as a Sunday School teacher with Charter Oak Church of Green Center. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and embroidery.
Joan is survived by her children, Katie Nanette (Tim) Firestone, Curtis Dale (Dorothy) Bingham, Penny Rena (Jeff) Braun, and Mark Allen (Kim) Bingham; a sister, Kay Herald; 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert "Duke" Richards; a great-grandson, Hunter.
Joan's Family is deeply saddened by their loss but takes comfort in knowing that she is now Home with her Lord and Savior.
