Anita Bishop

Anita Bishop, 88, of Columbia City, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024, at her home. She was born on November 18, 1935, Heydekrug, Germany, to the late Wilhelm and Hedwig (Merteney) Megies, and immigrated to the United States in 1964. Anita was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Bishop, whom she married on March 1, 1985. Anita was a proud and dedicated owner/operator of Busco One Stop service station for 16 years. She was a woman of many interests, with a passion for gardening, travel, and car shows. Christmas was a favorite time of year for Anita, as she loved having her family over for dinner. Her Thanksgiving dinner was a meal that everyone in the family eagerly anticipated each year. Anita lived a life full of joy, love, and hard work. Her love for her family, her passion for her hobbies, and her dedication to her work made her a remarkable woman who will be deeply missed. She is survived by two sons, Rainer (Lisa) Kimmell and Andy (Iva) Kimmell; two stepdaughters, Jill (Brian) Lee and Susan (Jerry) Girardot; a sister, Irene Young; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded by two sisters, Ursula Reiter and Khrista Biers; a brother, Manfred Megies. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, calling will begin at 11:00 a.m. Anita will be laid to rest at Merriam Christian Chapel Cemetery. Memorial may be directed to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. Sheets & Childs Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
