Annabelle L. Shively, 81, a resident of Churubusco and wife of Joe Shively, passed away at 8:35 a. m. on Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Parkview Whitley Hospital in Columbia City. She had been in failing health for some time, and had entered the hospital on Friday. Mrs. Shively was born on September 18, 1928 in Columbia City, a daughter of Ralph Donald and Faye Bonita (Clawson) Stickler, and spent her formative years there. On January 4, 1947 she was united in marriage to Joe Shively. The couple spent most of their adult lives on the Shively Family farm in Smith Township, where she assisted her husband in the family farming operation. She was a member of the Blue River Church of the Brethren in Whitley County, where she was active as a superintendent and teacher.e In 2000 she was given the Unsung Hero Award for her selfless church work over the years, and in 2003 she received the Whitley County Heart of Gold Award. The surviving relatives include her husband Joe, to whom she was married for 63 years; a daughter Robin (Rick) Plasterer of Churubusco; two sons Bradley R. (Deb Jackson) Shively and Byron R. Shively, both of Fort Wayne; her sister Jeanette Zumbrun of Columbia City; and her three beloved grandchildren Emily (K. J.) Mcaleesejergins of Nashville, Tenn., Philip Plasterer stationed in South Korea, and Sarah Shively of Fort Wayne. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Thursday, January 14,e in the Blue River Church of the Brethren, 3040 Ee e 700 N, with Pastor Craig Alan Myers, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p. m. , or at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to the Blue River Church of the Brethren Deacon's Fund. ******************************************
