Barbara Herendeen

Barbara L. Herendeen, 93, of Fort Wayne, passed away on October 16, 2026, at her residence in Fort Wayne, IN.

Born in Noble County, IN, on December 8, 1932, to the late Haskel and Ester (Piper) Engle. She graduated from Wolf Lake High School in 1950.

Barbara married Alan E. Herendeen in Columbia City, on October 16, 1954; he preceded her in death on November 25, 2000. She loved farming with the family, knitting, sewing, and cooking for her family.

She worked at Gardeners Restaurant and later at Mr. Donut for 32 years.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Rene A. (Terry) Frewer; her two sons, Rex A. (Katie) Herendeen and Roy A. (Kathy) Herendeen; her son-in-law, Bob Ewing; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; her sister, Dora Stahl.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rowena Ewing, on Jan. 3, 2000; her three brothers, Roger, Kenneth and Dale Engle; one sister, Mary Farris.

Funeral Services will take place at Sheets and Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on October 22, 2026 at 1:00 pm with calling two hours prior to service.

Burial will take place at Eel River Cemetery
