Barbara Houser

Barbara J. Houser, 86, of Huntertown, passed away at 9:32 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. She was born on January 11, 1932 in Sioux City, Iowa. She was a daughter of the late John and Edith (Falk) Harward. She spent her formative years in Sioux City and graduated from East High High School in 1950. Barbara was married in Sioux City on February 6, 1953 to Randall L. Houser, Jr. The couple settled in Huntertown in 1953. She retired from Northwest Allen County schools in 1982. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. She enjoyed playing Bridge and Euchre. Barbara is survived by her husband of 64 years, Randall Houser of Huntertown; three children, Jan (Tim) McAlhany of Waterloo, Gary (Karen) Houser and David (Patty) Houser both of Huntertown; a brother, Gary (Linda) Harward of Crawford, TX; two sisters, Bette (Richard) Johnson of Omaha, Ne and Donna (Don) Sweem of Fort Mill, SC; nine grandchildren, Jennifer McFall, August (Chad) Paul, Zachary (Melissa) Houser, Rob (Meghanne) McAlhaney, Natalie Houser, Rachel (Jared) Malcolm, Becca Houser, Kelsey (CJ) Smith and Jon Houser; ten great grandchildren, Gracelynn and Mollyanne Tolin, Dylan, Hallie and Alyvia Paul, Adalynn and Audrey Malcolm, Rhett Houser, Kendall Smith and Lucas McFall. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marilyn Harward. Calling will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Services will begin at 10:30 AM, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 17, 2018. Burial will follow at a later date at the Huntertown Cemetery.
