Barbara Jean Kirkpatrick, 85, of Albion, passed away on April 12, 2025, at Sacred Heart in Avilla.
She was born in Churubusco on April 29, 1939, to the late Patrick and Verna (Hodges) Crooks. She spent her formative years there and attended Churubusco High School.
Barbara married George L. Kirkpatrick on September 6, 1954, in Ege. The couple lived all their adult lives in Jefferson Township near Albion and resided at their present home since 1961. From 1979 to 2016, she operated a Plaster Craft shop called the Rainbow Shop out of her home.
A longtime resident of Albion, Indiana, Barbara was a beloved mother, sister, and community member. Barbara's creative talents were evident from a young age as she crafted doll clothes and worked as an upholsterer. Her creative spirit continued into her retirement years when she found joy in coloring. Barbara was a dedicated volunteer at C.A.S.A as a Child Advocate. She spent her time serving others and ensuring the well-being of vulnerable children. Barbara was a devoted member of the Albion Chamber Board and the Noble County Central Republican Committee, where her passion for her community shone through.
She is survived by her six children, Randy (Chris) Kirkpatrick, Steve (Dee Dee) Kirkpatrick, Tim (Janet) Kirkpatrick, Carol (David) Richter, Dennis (Jennifer) Kirkpatrick, and Ginny Jenkins; a brother, Roger (Rhonda) Crooks; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Lynn and David Crooks; and son-in-law, Todd Jenkins.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, with calling one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive family and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Burial will be at Rehoboth Cemetery, Albion.
Memorials may be directed to Brimfield United Methodist Church or Lewy Body Dementia Association.
