Berneta Keller

Berneta Louise Keller, 98, a resident of LaOtto, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Greystone Health & Rehab. Berneta was born in Nine Mile, Indiana, on March 26, 1925, to the late Lemuel and Elizabeth (Rasor) Smith. She spent her formative years north of Roanoke in Jefferson Township, Whitley County. She graduated from Jefferson Center High School in 1943. She was married to Roland Lents, on September 20, 1956. He preceded her in death in 1981. She was later married to Isaac D. Keller on November 2, 1985. He preceded her in death on August 17, 2002. Her work experience includes General Electric and Caphart. She had last worked for Magnavox, where she dedicated 25 years of her life as a Tester. Berneta was a member of the Cultivate Church of LaOtto, formerly LaOtto Wesleyan Church. She loved to travel, having been to every state except Alaska. She especially enjoyed camping, sometimes going by motorcycle. She loved to be out in God's creation where she could see the mountains, valleys, and lakes God made for us to enjoy. She is survived by her loving son, Larry Lents; her stepdaughter, Linda Manning; three grandchildren; Charles (Erin) Lents, Adam Lents, and Megan (Brian) LaBelle; six great-grandchildren, Wil, Jules, Henry, Koen, Chase, and Eva. In addition to her parents and husbands, Berneta was preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Sandra Osterman; her beloved siblings, Evelyn Cunningham, Louella Smith, Lloyd Smith, and Virgil Smith. Services will be held at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Huntertown Chapel, on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke. Memorials may be directed to Cultivate Church, LaOtto. Sheets & Childs Funeral Home has been entrusted these arrangements.
