Beth A. Sollazzo, 58, a resident of rural Columbia City and wife of John Sollazzo, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning, July 12, 2014, at the family residence in Etna Troy Township. Beth was born on March 12, 1956 in Garrett, a daughter of George e. and Shirley (Cook) Gause, and spent her formative years in LaOtto. As an adult she had worked for 12 years at Fasson Avery Dennison in Fort Wayne, and had retired from the Wal Mart Warehouse in Garrett due to ill health. She was known as a master gardener, and loved spending time in the out of doors. She loved pets, had raised miniature Schnauzers, and also loved shopping. In addition, she collected lighthouses, and had traveled to visit various lighthouses throughout the country. On October 28, 1994 she was married at Tri-Lakes to John R. Sollazzo. The couple had lived at Crooked Lake for a period before moving to their present home in 2002. He survives. Also surviving are her two children Tod Esquivel of Indianapolis and Sommer Esquivel of Monroeville; her mother Shirley Moody of Fort Wayne; two half-brothers Monte Moody of Fort Wayne and Jimmy Marquart of Merritt Island, Fla; and two grandchildren Aden Esquivel and Zoey Esquivel. She was preceded in death by her father on August 7, 2002; and by a brother Larry Paul Gause on January 16, 1958. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Wednesday at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Rick Van Horn, pastor of Christ Community Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3 to 8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Wednesday morning. Interment will be in the family plot at Fairview Cemetery, northwest of Huntertown.
