Betty Hall

Betty D. Hall, 85, a resident of New Haven and formerly of Woodburn, passed away at 7:57 a. m.on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne. Although she had been in declining health, she had been active until the past week. Mrs. Hall was born on January 23, 1929 in Milan Twp. in Allen County, a daughter of Asa and Anna (Rediger) Ehresman. She spent her formative years in Woodburn and graduated from Woodburn High School in 1947. On November 10, 1951 she was married in Woodburn to Wendell D. Hall, and had lived all of her adult life in Woodburn until moving to New Haven ten years ago. She was a lifelong member of Westwood Fellowship Church in Woodburn, and was active in its ladies aid society, kitchen committee, and the church choir. Employed as a bus driver for East Allen County Schools, Betty retired from there in 1990 after 26 years. Mrs. Hall enjoyed all sorts of travel, and especially family vacations. She was an expert at quilting and designing comforters, as well as being a talented and experienced cook. Christmas was always an "event" in her home planned months in advance. Betty will long be remembered for her quick sense of humor, and love of church, friends, and especially her family. Mr. Hall preceded her in death on November 6, 2013. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her two children Dr. Connie (Paul) Lightfoot of Upland and Kenton (Judy Wojcik) Hall of Richmond; a brother Melvin Ehresman of Leo; two sisters Willodean Klopfenstein of Leo and Mary Ann (James) Thompson of Atlanta, Ga; five granddaughters Hilary (Mark) Ludema of Portland, Mich., Kendra (Jason) Beutler of Carmel, Megan (Chris) Anderson of Fishers, Kyle (Silas) Stange of Lyst, Germany, and Bailey (Rhett) Schroeder of Richmond; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Thursday, September 4, 2014, at Westwood Fellowship Church, 4100 Becker Rd., Woodburn, with Pastor Dave Souers, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 3-5 and from 6-8 p. m., or after 9:30 a. m. Thursday prior to the service. Interment will be in the Woodburn Evangelical Mennonite Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be directed to Westwood Fellowship Church, 4100 Becker Rd., Woodburn, IN 46797 Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco is in charge of the arrangements. *********************************************************
