Betty Kaiser

Betty Jean Kaiser, 79, a resident of Warren and wife of Rev. William W. Kaiser, passed away at 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne with her family by her side. Betty was born on September 2, 1936 in Mishawaka, a daughter of Clyde and Gladys (Hamilton) Perkey. She attended Jamestown schools and graduated from Jimtown High School in 1954. Betty was married in Osceola to William W. Kaiser on June 19, 1954, her high school sweetheart. Their family grew to include Corinne and Byron. Following a call to ministry in The United Methodist Church, the family lived in Evansville, Wharton, NJ, Fairmount, North Manchester, Hartford City, Nappanee, Kendallville, Michigan City, Yorktown, and Warsaw. During this time she was the youth director of each church and touched many lives. They retired to Tippecanoe. She created, owned, and operated Benchmark Forms and had also worked at a variety of other jobs. An accomplished seamstress, she was also a master gardener, and a creator, director, and designer of several church dramas. She enjoyed traveling and organizing trips, and was a fabulous cook who enjoyed making family dinners with themes. She loved all "critters" and loved the color red. She enjoyed studying genealogy and organizing pictures of relatives. While the last few years of her life were limited by health, she maintained her passion for reading non-fiction and history books, and learning about life's mysteries. The surviving relatives include her husband Rev. William W. Kaiser, to whom she was married for over 61 years; her children Rev. Corinne (Stan) Boruff-Stucker of Churubusco and Rev. Byron (Candy) Kaiser of North Webster; a sister Ellen (Richard) Perkey Deak of Jamestown; six grandchildren Andrew (Jaimie) Boruff, Rebecca (Sani) Maiki, Benjamin Boruff, Elyse (Sam Lane) Kaiser, Diana Kaiser, and Matthew Kaiser; six step-grandchildren Scott Stucker, Christopher (Melissa) Stucker, Michael (Cheryl) Stucker, Trina Wright, Bradley Robinson, and Benjamin (Ashley) Robinson; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandsons. She loved her family passionately. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers Harvey Perkey and Jack Perkey; and by a sister Violet Perkey Mann. Funeral services will be held at 3 p. m. on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at the Churubusco United Methodist Church with Revs. Wesley Brookshire and Norman Glassburn, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m., or at the church one hour prior to the service Sunday afternoon. Private interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, northwest of Bourbon. The family requests memorials be directed to Epworth Forest Conference Center, 8531 E.
