Betty Weigold

Betty M. Weigold, 78, a former resident of Eel River Township, died at 3:35 a. m. on Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.e She had been taken to the hospital on Monday from Canterbury Rehabilitation Center where she had resided for the past year. Mrs. Weigold was born in Allen County on December 20, 1930, a daughter of William A. and Dorval E. [Houck] Phillips, Jr.e She spent her formative years on the family farm in Eel River Township, and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1949. A lifelong resident of Allen County, she had been employed part-time at the Shiloh Hall on Carroll Road, and was retired from Byron Health Center. The surviving relatives include her daughter Victoria L. Weigold of Eel River Township; a brother William C. [Carolyn] Phillips of Wolcottville; and a sister Jo Ann Beard of Fort Wayne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers Kenneth Phillip and Robert A. Phillips. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Saturday, July 25, 2009, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Larry Smith, pastor of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Friday from 4 to 8 p. m.
