Betty Yaney

Betty Jean Yaney, 81, of Churubusco, passed away on November 30, 2021, at Sacred Heart Village in Avilla. She was born in Chappell, Nebraska, on August 6, 1940, to the late Eugene and Bessie (Shriner) Haws. She spent her formative years in Modesto, California. She worked as an ISS supervisor for Smith-Green Community Schools for five years before she retired in 2000. Prior to that she worked for Fort Wayne Community Schools in the same capacity and worked with disabled children. She was also a self-employed professional seamstress. Betty was very active in the scouts. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for pack 3009 and also was a commissioner for the Cub Scout Thunderbird District round table for several years. Along with the Boy Scouts, she volunteered at Parkview Hospital. Betty is survived by two sons, Lynn Yaney and Lon Yaney; her daughter, Bernadette (Jon) Clark; a sister, Barbara Buchanan; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Garner; a son, Leslie Yaney; a grandson, Levi Yaney. Funeral Service will take place at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., with calling beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial taking place at Ege Catholic Cemetery, Ege.
