Bill Jackson, affectionately known as Dozer Bill, 67, of Huntertown, passed away at home on August 3, 2024.
He was born on August 29, 1956, in Pineville, KY, to the late Franklin Delano and Geraldine (Barker) Jackson. He spent his formative years in Fort Wayne and attended Homestead High School.
Bill was a well-regarded excavator, known for his natural ability to envision how an excavation project would unfold before it began. He was able to do this because in his words "he was smarter than dirt." He had a unique talent for working the dirt, leading to a successful career with L & B Excavating. He retired in 2018, but his love for working outdoors continued into his retirement years, with a special fondness for yard work.
Bill leaves behind his beloved wife, Pam Jackson, whom he married on July 29, 2010. He also leaves his two daughters, Crystal (Scott) Kerr and Jenelle (Corey) Hoff; and his siblings; Loretta Avila, Cynthia Volk, and David Jackson; his stepchildren, Amber Steele, Brittany (Tom Durfee) Steele, Adam (Samantha) Steele, and Michelle (Micheal Mora) Steele; his four grandchildren, Owen, Madison, Cameron, and Theodore; and seven step-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his previous wife, Laura Jackson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Huntertown Chapel, on Saturday, August 10, 2024, with a viewing one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive friends and family on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 at the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed to Cancer Service of Northeast Indiana.
