Blanche Lucille Kumfer Kurtz, 91, a resident of Fort Wayne, died on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 4:20 a. m.e at the Kingston Care Center in Fort Wayne.e Although she had been a patient there for over five years, her death was unexpected. Born on May 14, 1917 in Allen County near Huntertown, she was a daughter of Bert Julius and Edith Ellen (Bice) Grim.e She graduated from Huntertown High School, and was a lifelong resident of Allen County. Always interested in fashion and in looking her best,e she had worked as a clerk in her younger years at the former Hunter Paris Store in Fort Wayne.e She later was employed in the office at ITT Laboratories in Fort Wayne.e In her leisure time she enjoyed homemaking,e yard work, fishing, nature, birds and squirrels, and had also enjoyed traveling. On January 8, 1938 she was married to Arthur Kumfer.e He preceded her in death on November 3, 1965.e Her second marriage took place on September 20, 1983 to Theron L. Kurtz.e He survives in Fort Wayne. The other surviving relatives include her daughter and son-in-law Marina and Lowell Oesch of Fort Wayne; a sister Pauline McBride of Churubusco; a step-grandson Donald (Deborah) Oesch of Woodridge, Ill; and two great-grandsons. In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Grace Surface; and by a grandson and his wife Mark and Lou Wenda Haverstick. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Monday, December 8, 2008, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Pastor Rick Van Horn, officiating. The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 2 to 5 p. m. on Sunday, or one hour prior to the service Monday afternoon. Interment will be in the family plot at Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco. ********************************
