Bonnie Kimmel

Bonnie L. Kimmel, 80, a resident of rural Churubusco in Allen County, passed away at 11:30 p. m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, where she had been admitted earlier in the day. She had been in declining health for several weeks.. Mrs. Kimmel was born on March 8, 1933 in Lansing, Michigan, a daughter of Bernard B. and Mildred (Thomas) Leazier. She spent most of her formative years in Eel River Township in Allen County, and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1951. She later graduated from Ravenscroft Beauty College and worked as a beautician in Churubusco for a period. On September 11, 1954 she was married in Churubusco to William L. Kimmel. She was a homemaker and had lived at her present home in Eel River Township since 1960. Mr. Kimmel preceded her in death on April 2, 2011. The surviving relatives include her daughters Lee Ann (Charles) Schortgen of Churubusco, Lisa (Jack) Nicole of Angola, Lynn K. Patrick of Fort Wayne, and Lori B. Krueckeberg of Churubusco; two sisters Peg Lemish of Churubusco and Joann (Russ) Krempel of Huntertown; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Perry "Jim" Leazier on June 25, 2006; and by a son-in-law Jay S. Krueckeberg on October 14, 2012. Private graveside services will be held at Riverview Cemetery, south of Churubusco. Rev. Corinne Boruff-Stucker, pastor of Churubusco United Methodist Church, will officiate and interment will follow. The family will receive friends at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Monday from 2 to 8 p. m.
