Brandon Scott Higgins, 31, a resident of Fort Wayne and formerly of Huntertown, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at his home from natural causes.
Brandon was born in Fort Wayne on September 4, 1985. He spent his formative years in Huntertown and graduated from Carroll High School in 2004. Upon completing his high school education he entered the U.S. Navy where he served in active duty for six years. He later returned to Allen County and completed his associates degree from MedTech College in 2015.
He was previously employed as a lab technician at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru, and had recently become employed in the accounts department of Ivy Tech Community College in Fort Wayne. He had also recently entered the U.S. Navy Reserves.
Brandon will be remembered for being a Fort Wayne Komets fan, and enjoying country music and gaming.
The surviving relatives include his mother Alice (Watson) Higgins of Huntertown; an aunt Hella Bea Croghan of Rineyville, Ky; an uncle Ronald (Barbara) Watson of Port Charlotte, Fla; and his godmother Kathy Thompson of Wichita, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Richard E. and Esther (Croghan) Watson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a..m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Dr. Derek Weber, pastor of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and from 6-8 p.m., or one hour prior to the service Wednesday morning.
Interment with military graveside rites will be in the National Cemetery, Marion.
