Brenda Lou Blessing, 64, of rural Fort Wayne, passed away on November 17, 2025, after a long battle with dementia.
She was born December 26, 1960, in Huntington, to Ned and Judy (Riggers) Short. She spent her formative years in Huntington and was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. She graduated from Huntington North High School in 1980.
She was married to Stanton M. Blessing on September 15, 1984, in Fort Wayne.
After graduating from high school, she earned her Cosmetology degree from Ravenscroft Beauty College and was a hairdresser for 10 years. Brenda also worked at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Restaurant in the retail shop.
She was a member of St. John's Lake Township Lutheran Church.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Brenda lived her life with a gentle heart, unwavering strength, and a deep love for her family.
Those who knew her will forever remember her warm smile, her laugh, her kind spirit, and her giving heart. She had a way of making every person around her feel cherished. Her legacy of love, compassion, and quiet resilience will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her husband, Stanton; a daughter, Addie (Austin) Shoppell; a son, Caid (Marissa) Blessing; her father, Ned Short; five grandchildren, Braiden, Adayla, Camden, Gracie, and Milan; two sisters, Debra Selig and McKinley (Joe) Wheeler. She was preceded in death by her mother.
A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at St. John's Lake Township Lutheran Church, 7914 W. Cook Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46818, with calling one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive friends and family at St. John's Lake Township Lutheran Church on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Burial will take place in the Eel River Cemetery.
