Carl McGuire, 92, long time Smith Township farmer and a resident of rural Churubusco, passed away at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2011, at his home, after a long illness. Mr. McGuire was born on September 15, 1919 in Noble County, a son of Rollin and Orpha (Lindsay) McGuire. He spent his formative years in Noble County, graduating from Albion High School. While serving in the United States Army during World War II, he married Pauline (Weidman) McGuire in Churubusco on May 8, 1943. After completing his military duty in 1945 he lived in Green Township before settling at his current farm home in Smith Township in January of 1949. He was engaged in farming there all his adult life. He is survived by his daughter Patricia McGuire of Churubusco; a daughter - in - law Judy McGuire of Churubusco; a sister Marcelle (Lee) Mahnesmith of Terre Haute; a grandson Stacy (Krista) Holzinger of Churubusco; and two great grandsons Jacob and Logan Holzinger of Churubusco. Mr. McGuire was preceded in death by his wife on March 5, 2011; a son Jerry McGuire on January 16, 2011; a grandson Chad McGuire on January 27, 2008; three brothers, and one sister. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco. Pastor Greg Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Thursday from 12:00 until the time of service. Interment will be at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
