Carl F. Schmidt, 89, of Fort Wayne, passed away at his home on March 23, 2025.
He was born in Fort Wayne on July 22, 1935, to the late Carl and Helen (Fruechtenicht) Schmidt, Sr.
Carl, a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, was a dearly loved husband, father, and grandfather. He dedicated 30 1/2 years to his work on the Scout Line at Harvester. A graduate of Arcola High School in 1953, Carl was known for his industrious spirit, not only in his professional role at Harvester but also in assisting his brother Paul in farming the family homestead.
Carl was a devoted member of the Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church and had a deep love for his family. He enjoyed his retirement years by spending time fishing, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and working in the fields, which brought him great joy.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Beverly Schmidt; his daughter, Debra Winchester; son-in-law, Chad Hough; and his cherished grandchildren, Cody and Kayla Hough.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his his brother, Paul Schmidt; his sister, Leona Bradtmiller; a daughter, Karla Hough on July 9, 2021; two nephews, Kenny Bradtmiller and Greg Schmidt.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 6318 West California Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive family and friends at the Church on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Burial will take place in the Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery.
