Carlen Fensler

Carlen (Duehning) Fensler, age 78, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Spokane, Washington, to the late William and Irene (Hoyt) Duehning.

Carlen graduated from North Central High School in 1966. After high school, she attended Prairie Bible Institute in Canada from 1967-68.

On September 13, 1969, she married Steven R. Fensler. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2020, after 51 years of marriage.

She was a missionary in Dakar, Senegal, in Africa from 2006 to 2010. She was a faithful attendee of Alliance Community Church and a beloved Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. She was also a faithful volunteer at A Hope Center. Her hobbies were sewing, doing crafts, and baking. The consistent joys in her life were Jesus and her loving family.

She is survived by her four sons, Tim (Lisa) Fensler, Andy (Kelly) Fensler, Dan (Gina) Fensler, and Jeremiah (Anna) Fensler; her eight grandchildren, Zach (Gretchen) Fensler, McKenna Fensler, Greg Fensler, Drew (Karson) Fensler, Brianna Wilson (Jake), Brittany Grier (Brandon), Adam Fensler and Mark Fensler; and her nine great-grandchildren, Elliot Fensler, Eloise Fensler, Theodore Fensler, Raelyn Wilson, Maverick Wilson, Hudson Wilson, James Grier, Addilyn Grier and Allison Grier; and also a twin brother, Dennis Duehning.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Doug Duehning and Kay Zolman.

Memorials may be made to A Hope Center or Missionary Fund.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Alliance Community Church, 5610 Lahmeyer Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46835.
