Carol Green

February 21, 1946 — March 9, 2016

Carol S. Green, 70, a resident of rural Churubusco in Allen County and wife of James H. Green, passed away at 1:31 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. She had been battling cancer since 2014, and had entered the hospice home on Friday. Carol was born on February 21, 1946 in Santa Ana, California, where her father was stationed with the U. S. Marine Corps. A daughter of Danford M. "Bud" and Betty May (Frazier) McComb, she spent her formative years in Huntertown and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1964. On November 7, 1964 she was married in Huntertown to James H. Green, and lived all of her married life on the family farm east of Churubusco. As a young woman she was active in Job's Daughters, and in her early adult years worked in the bakery at Egolf's IGA in Churubusco. Employed in the customer service department at North American Van Lines in Fort Wayne, she retired from there in 2013 after 29 years. Always a 'homemaker' in the truest sense of the word, she enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and sewing, but most especially loved and cherished her family. The surviving relatives include her husband Jim, to whom she was married for over 51 years; two sons Chris Green of Fort Wayne and Matt (Amy) Green of Churubusco; her daughter Angie (Dan) McLaughlin of Fort Wayne; a brother Ted (Francie) McComb of Fort Wayne; a sister Julia Miller of Angola; a brother-in-law Jerry Zirkle of Angola; and her six grandchildren Nathan Green, Brandon Green, Ashley Green, Aaron Green, Cooper Inman, and Courtney Inman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Linda Zirkle on February 20, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Deacon Don Henry of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m., or one hour prior to the service Sunday afternoon. Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, Allen County. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or Holy Cross School band. ************************************************* To leave an online condolence for the family in Mrs. Green's memory, "click" on condolences...
