Catherine Fleetwood

Catherine Fleetwood, 91, of Churubusco, passed away at 5:35 a.m. on August 17, 2017 at Sycamore Village in Fort Wayne. She was born on July 23, 1926 in rural Churubusco. She was the only daughter of Clarence and Mable (Hibbs) Raypole. She spent her formative years in Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1944. Catherine married Gerald Fleetwood in Churubusco on October 24, 1944. She worked as a grinder at GE during World War II, then stayed home to raise their two children. She attended Good News Baptist Church, 4-H, sewing club and was involved in the PTA. She will be remembered as an excellent cook and her love of flowers and her grandchildren. Catherine is survived by her husband of 72 years, Gerald Fleetwood of Churubusco; her daughter, Marcy Fleetwood of Fort Wayne; her son, Steven (Cheryl) Fleetwood of Churubusco; six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Leonard Raypole and Ernest Raypole. Visiting hours will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Also, one hour prior to the service Services will begin at 11:00 AM, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Friday, August 25, 2017. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Allen County.
