Charles W. "Chick" Geiger, 93, of Churubusco, passed away surrounded by his family, on November 29, 2024, at Parkview Noble Hospital.
He was born in Smith Township on January 6, 1931, to the late Clifford "Jake" and Irene (Krider) Geiger. He spent his formative years in Collins and was educated at the Collin's School. After his education he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Chick was married to Dorothy "Dottie" Cable on November 14, 1964. She preceded him in death on October 8, 1998, after 33 years of marriage.
Chick spent much of his life engaged in farming in Smith Township. Chick drove school bus for Smith-Green Community Schools from 1968 - 1976, worked for Geiger Implement in Churubusco from 1968 to 1980, and then at Schafer Implement in Fort Wayne from 1980 to 1991. He retired from MacAllister Machinery in Fort Wayne in 2009, after 8 years of service.
Chick served as a 4-H leader in both Whitley and Allen County for many years. He was also a proud member of the Columbia City American Legion Post #98.
Chick is survived by his children, Lori (Tom) Krider, Jeff (Karen) Geiger, Linda (Kevin) Penrod, Julie (Glen) Malcolm, Heidi (Harold Coil) Geller, Heather (Rick) Trent, and Tyrone Geiger; and his sisters, Helen Blanchard and Shirley Rugg; fourteen grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Irene Geiger; his beloved wife, Dorothy Geiger; and his siblings, Guy Geiger, Dale Geiger, and Mary Sutton.
A funeral service will be held at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive family and friends at the funeral home, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Burial will take place at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.
