Charles Meier

Charles Jim Meier, 80, of Churubusco, passed away at 5:24 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at his home in Churubusco. Mr. Meier was born on July 13, 1936 in Richmond, Indiana, a son of William A. and Stella (Horner) Meier. He spent his formative years in Richmond, and graduated from Richmond High School in 1954. On June 19, 1960 he was married in Richmond to Shirley J. Lloyd, and moved from Richmond to Yoder where he had lived for 31 years. They have lived in Churubusco the last 10 years. He was employed at General Electric, and retired after 41 years. Mr. Meier was a member of the Thursday Morning Senior League at Pro Bowl West.. The surviving relatives include wife, Shirley J. Meier of Churubusco; four sons, Edward J. Meier of Eugene, Oregon, Anthony J. (Doreen) Meier, Eric J. Meier, and Matthew J. (Lauri) Meier all of Fort Wayne; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents William A.and Stella (Horner) Meier; two brothers William and Carl Robert Meier; and a sister Marilyn Kinnear. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, with Pastor Rick Van Horn, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, or one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Eel River Cemetery, Allen County.
