Christenna 'Kay' Bearman, 82, of Churubusco, passed away on December 14, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
She was born on March 10, 1943, in Harrisburg, Illinois, to the late Bernie and Juanita (Garner) Irvin.
Her life journey led her from West Virginia to New Mexico and Virginia before settling in New Haven in 1954. There, she met and married the love of her life, James Bearman, on April 28, 1962. The couple later moved to rural Churubusco in 1988, where they created countless beautiful memories. Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James, who passed away on June 17, 2010.
Known for her strong spirit and vibrant energy, Kay took great pride in her work as a Picker at Super Market Services. She served as a teacher's aide in New Haven and also worked as a purchaser for BRC in Churubusco. Her professional commitment was only surpassed by her devotion to her faith and community. She had been a member of the Collins New Life Church and the Red Hat Society, where her joyful persona was a beacon of light for many.
Kay is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Bearman and Kyla (Douglas) Kensill; her granddaughter, Alta Marie Kensill; a niece and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Irvin.
A graveside service in honor of Kay will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.
