Clarence Resler

Clarence L. Resler, 85, a resident of Churubusco, passed away on January 18, 2017 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Born on October 10, 1931 in Green Township, to Kenneth and Fannie (Roberson) Resler. He spent his formative years in Green Township and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1950. He was married on October 17, 1952 to Ruth Shipe in Wolcottville. Clarence spent his life farming and drove School Bus for Smith-Green Community Schools for 40 years. He was a member of the Churubusco United Methodist Church, the Faithful Followers Sunday School, 515 Churubusco Masonic Lodge, Shriner Mizpah, Scottish Rite, 136 Churubusco Eastern Star, he was a past Smith-Green Community Schools board member, a past member of the Churubusco Rotary Club, Smiling Sam's Camping Club and at the age of 10 he was put in charge of maintaining the fire in the stove at the Charter Oak One Room School House. In addition to his many memberships he enjoyed being a Ham Radio Operator using his call sign N9VSR. Clarence is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ruth Resler of Churubusco; his two sons, David (Laramie) Resler and Darrell (Vickie) Resler both of Churubusco; a sister - in - law, Carol Resler of Churubusco; six grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Arthur Resler. The family will receive friends at Churubusco United Methodist Church on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., or one hour prior to the service. A Masonic service then an Eastern Star service will follow calling at 8:00 p.m. Services will be on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., at Churubusco United Methodist Church with Pastor Corrine Boruff - Stucker, officiant. Burial will follow at Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Churubusco United Methodist Church.
