Connie Sue Slagal

Connie Sue Slagal, 58, of Huntertown, passed away on March 27, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family. Connie was a cherished wife, loving mother, devoted daughter, and respected nurse whose kindness and spirit touched the lives of many.

Born and raised in Leo, Connie graduated from Leo High School before pursuing further education at Ivy Tech, IPFW, Indiana Wesleyan, and Western Governors University. For 37 years, she dedicated herself to the nursing profession, providing compassionate care to countless patients. In recent years, she shared her wealth of knowledge as an educator, Advisor, and Life Coach at WGU, inspiring the next generation of nurses.

On January 24, 1992, Connie married the love of her life, Ronald Slagal, in Churubusco. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Connie took great joy in her role as a mother to her daughter, Kristi Slagal, and in her family, who were her pride and joy.

She leaves behind not just her husband and daughter, but also her loving parents, Donald and Mary (Schramm) Day; her brother, Michael Day; her sister, Becky Semler; three stepsons, Dean Slagal, Jeffrey (Kayla) Slagal, and Tylor (Kelli) Geiger; and eight grandchildren.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Huntertown Chapel, with calling one hour prior to the service.

The family will also receive family and friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A private family burial will take place at the Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.
