Kathleen eaA"Katieea Swoverland, 94, of Churubusco, passed away at 6:06 p.m. on June 13, 2011, at Heritage Park Nursing Home, after a long illness. She was born to Clarence and Clara (Dodson) Carriger on August 30, 1916 in Churubusco, where she spent her formative years. Following her graduation for Indianapolis Methodist College she spent her career working at several different hospitals as a Registered Nurse, her last being the Linvill Hospital in Columbia City, before retiring in 1966. She married Donald F. Swoverland August 6, 1938. They owned Swoverland Shoe Store in Churubusco from 1949 ea" 1971. They then moved to Fort Myers Florida and started American Hardware and Bicycle from 1971 ea" 1984 which they owned and operated. She returned to the Churubusco area in 1984 following her retirement. She enjoyed playing tennis in her leisure time. Surviving relatives include her daughters Donita Harris and Saralyn Walls; a son D.G. (Jeri) Swoverland all of Fort Wayne; 21 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and one great ea" great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Swoverland on April 7, 2002; a daughter Sondra Lee; a son Steve Swoverland and a brother Gene Carriger Services will be held on Friday June 17, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco, with Rev. John Suciu, pastor of Wallen Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., or one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in thee Riverview Cemetery, Allen County Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimereaas Association. *************************************
