Curtis P. Sherman, 65, passed away on September 26, 2024, at Dupont Hospital.
He was born in Columbia City on May 30, 1959, to the late Clyde "Red" and Esther (Ohlwine) Sherman. He was a graduate of Carroll High School, Class of 1977, and held fond memories of his upbringing in Arcola.
Curt was a beloved brother and friend who will be deeply missed. His life was marked by hard work and dedication, having spent many years in the manufacturing of Cement Mixers. He worked for both Advance Mixer and Terex.
Known for his love of football and racing, Curtis was happiest when he was sharing these passions with his family and friends. He was often found with two TVs on during game days, ensuring he never missed a moment of the action. Curtis was known for his dedication to his family. His jovial spirit and love for sports brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.
Curtis is survived by his siblings, Brad Sherman, Stephanie (Edward) Greer, and Laura (Bill) Auer; his stepmother, Marcia Sherman; four nephews, Ben and Andrew Greer, Dustin (Erin) Auer, and Brady (Zoe) Auer; two nieces, Molly (John) Rittenhouse and Maggie Auer; ten great-nieces and nephews and a great-great-niece and nephew; many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Leroy "Red" Sherman and Esther Sherman; many aunts and uncles.
His family will gather to remember and celebrate his life on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024, with calling from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m., and a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Eel River Cemetery.
