Cynthia S. McBride, 57, a resident of rural Albion and wife of George Hayes McBride, passed away at 11:20 p. m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at her home. She had been in declining health since September. Mrs. McBride was born in Columbia City on January 28, 1958, a daughter of Paul T. and Verdonna "Tootie" (O'Connell) Konger. She spent her formative years in Green Township and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1976. On July 2, 1983, she was married at Ege to George Hayes McBride, and lived all of her adult life in Green Township. An employee of North American Van Lines in Fort Wayne for a number of years, she will long be remembered for her special ability to make everyone around her feel loved and special. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with friends and family, but her real love in life was spending time with her grandchildren and attending any activities they were involved in. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Ege. The surviving relatives include her husband George Hayes McBride; her sons Todd Papenbrock of Leo and Josh (Katee) McBride of Churubusco; her mother Verdonna "Tootie" (O'Connell) Konger of Albion; two brothers Mike (Beth) Konger and Matt (partner Michelle) Konger, both of Albion; two sisters Jenny (Mike) Mohrman of Churubusco and Amy (Mike) Philbee of Columbia City; her beloved grandchildren Tyler Papenbrock, Ava Papenbrock, Bryer McBride, and Briggen McBride; her mother-in-law Betty (Bill) Smith of Columbia City; a sister-in-law Jennie (Clifford) Householder of Albion; two brothers-in-law Bill McBride of Churubusco and Dan McBride of Fort Wayne; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her father Paul T. Konger. The family would like to give a special "thank you" and recognition to her friend Linda Lang, and to her other "special angels" who were so dear to her through her illness. Words could never express our gratitude. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a. m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Ege. Father Danney Pinto, the celebrant. The family will receive friends at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Friday from 2 to 8 p. m. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 8 p. m. Friday at the funeral home.
