D. Jean Egolf

D. Jean Egolf, 90, of Fort Wayne, passed away on March 12, 2026, at Orchard Point in Kendalville.

She was born on October 10, 1935, in Athens, Michigan, to the late Rodell and Genevieve (Mahieu) Irons. She spent her formative years in a close-knit community that instilled in her the values of hard work and dedication. She proudly graduated from Athens High School, where her early achievements were a testament to her unwavering determination. Her hard work paid off when she earned a scholarship to Michigan State University, an opportunity made possible by her success as the 1953 4-H Queen.

Jean's career was marked by her remarkable ability to connect with people. She excelled as a regional sales representative for Stanley Home Products, and her industrious spirit also led her to work with renowned companies such as Watkins and Fuller Brush. Her professional journey was characterized by her unyielding commitment to serving others and her passion for her work.

Jean is survived by her loving daughter, Jeannine Bricker; her son, Daniel Swain; three grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, as well as many friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joan B. Martin; her two brothers, George and Rodney Irons; and her son-in-law, Steven Bricker.

A viewing will be held at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Monday, March 23, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m.

Jean will be laid to rest at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.

Memorials may be directed to the Fort Wayne Humane Shelter.
