David Charles Salomon

Sep 21, 1936 — Aug 13, 2026

David Charles Salomon, a cherished husband, father, and devoted farmer, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, at the age of 89 in his lifelong hometown of Fort Wayne. Born on September 21, 1936, to the late Carl and Esther (Bleke) Salomon, David spent his formative years on the family farm, where he developed a deep-rooted love for agriculture that guided him throughout his life.

David was a proud graduate of Northside High School and furthered his education at Purdue University, where he earned an Associate's Degree in Agriculture. Following his passion for farming, which began with the family farm founded in 1862, he married Beverly Egolf on November 23, 1963, in Churubusco. Together, they nurtured not only their family but also the land, cultivating a life filled with hard work and harvest. As the owner of Salomon Farms and a 4th-generation farmer, David dedicated himself to agriculture, finding joy in the soil and the abundance it provided. His love for the soil earned him several Soil Conservation awards, including one from the President of the United States.

His love for the land was complemented by his enjoyment of gardening and fishing. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church since 1974. He also served on the Smith-Green Community School Board from 1983-1990.

David is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Beverly Salomon, and their three children: Leann (Dale) Arrowsmith, Brian (Suzette) Salomon, and Julie (Dean) Geiger; nine grandchildren, Paige (Gabe) Pankop, and Jeff (Abbey) Geiger, Tyler Arrowsmith, Reed (Stephanie) Geiger, Mason (Makayla) Salomon, Bryce (Hannah) Geiger, Christian Salomon, Molly Geiger, and Summer Salomon; five great-grandchildren, Zoey, Harley, Dallas Pankop, Louie Geiger and David Geiger. He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Salomon; his sister-in-law, Betty Salomon; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norman and Inabelle Egolf.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, with calling one hour prior to the funeral.

The family will also receive family and friends at the church on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 p.m.

David will be laid to rest at the Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.
