Dawn Shannon

Dawn Jeanne Shannon, 76, of Fort Wayne, passed away on March 10, 2021, at her home. Born in Columbia City, on January 27, 1945, to the late Gene and Margaret (Wunder) Quinn. She graduated from Columbia City High School in 1963. Dawn was married to Harold R. Shannon, Jr., in Fort Wayne, on February 10, 1973. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2018. She was a caregiver through Anthony Wayne Services for over twenty years. She raised her granddaughter, Heather, making sure she knew how loved she was every day. She lived for her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Dawn is survived by three sons, Joe (Stacy Simons) Shannon, Michael (Becky) Shannon and Bart (Therese) Byerley; a daughter, Kristina Bennington; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Susan (Eron) Cooper and a brother, Gene (Karen) Quinn. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jamie Sue Byerley; a grandson, Blake Bennington and a sister, Julie Kissinger. Funeral Services will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, 206 North Main Street, Churubusco, on Monday, March 15, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. The family will also receive friends on Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Riley Children's Hospital.
