Delois "Dude" Clemons, 86, a resident of Churubusco and widow of Kelly Clemons, passed away at 6:28 p. m. on Monday, December 2, 2013 at her residence. Although she had been in declining health, her death was unexpected. Mrs. Clemons was born in Glomar, Kentucky on August 20, 1927, a daughter of Matt and Flossie (Kincaid) Fletcher. She spent her early years in Kentucky and moved to Churubusco with her parents in 1942. On July 6, 1946 she was married to Kelly Clemons, and lived most of her adult life in Churubusco. Employed at United Technology (Essex) in Columbia City, she retired from there in 1994 after 19 years. She was a member of the Churubusco Veteran's of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 3846. Mr. Clemons preceded her in death in 1965. The surviving relatives include her daughter Sheryl (Tom) Dawson of Albion; three step-sons David (Dawna) Gatwood of Churubusco, John (Wendy) Gatwood of Fort Wayne, and Mark Gatwood of Churubusco; a sister Virginia Bulmer of Churubusco; a brother Billy Vernon (Chris) Fletcher of Danville, Ill; three grandchildren Abby (Dave) Caswell of Plymouth, Clint Davis of Churubusco, and Reece Partin of Albion; five step-grandchildren, one great-grandson, and six step-great-grandchildren. . In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers Jasper "Pete" Fletcher and Jesse Fletcher; and by two sisters Lillian Fletcher and Elizabeth Fletcher. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Saturday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Pastors Rick Van Horn and George Gatwood, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 8 p. m. Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
