Dennis "Hammer" Hanley

Dennis "Hammer" Lee Hanley, 61, of LaOtto, passed away at 9:52 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Mr. Hanley was born on March 4, 1954 in Garrett, a son of Robert Hanley and Patricia (Jackson) Pitser. He spent his formative years in Swan Township in Noble County, and graduated from East Noble High School in 1972. He engaged in farming activities and drove truck all of his adult life. Mr. Hanley was a member of LaOtto Volunteer Fire Department and served in some capacity including as a Captain since joining in 1976. The surviving relatives include father, Robert (Kathryn) Hanley of North Fort Myers, FL; his sister, Lauralee (Wes) Jones of Fort Wayne; two nieces, Becky (Rick) Freeman of LaOtto and Jennifer (Trisha) Hanes of Fort Wayne, two great-nieces, Aubrey and Harper Jones-Hanes. He was preceded in death by his mother Patricia Pitser. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2015 at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015 or one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery, LaOtto. In Lieu of flowers memorials are directed to the LaOtto Volunteer Fire Department or Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. ***********************************
