Devillo Hibbs

Devillo "Jack" Hibbs, 89, of Churubusco, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. He was born in Pioneer, Ohio, on December 16, 1933, to the late Herbert and Nellie (Stafford) Hibbs. He spent his formative years in New Amsterdam. On April 17, 1954, he was married in New Amsterdam, Indiana to Donna R. Froman. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2015. Jack had worked at Rea Wire and later retired from Colwell General in January 1999. He had also spent time as a Mechanic at Meyer's Service Station in Huntertown. His surviving relatives include his six daughters, Janet (Loyd) Flener, Jackie (Dave) Folk, Joyce (Ed) Dauscher, Julia (Cliff) Gaff, Jeni (Jim) Ice, and Cassandra (Jody) Simmons; two sons, John Hibbs and Jeff (Sandi) Hibbs; a brother, Milo Hibbs; 37 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Hibbs (June 30, 2015); a granddaughter, Maria Flener; two great-grandchildren, Shelby and Freya; four brothers, Leo, Rollo, Verlo, and Orlo Hibbs. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, with calling one hour prior to the service. The family will also receive family and friends at the funeral home, on Monday, December 26, 2022, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Eel River Cemetery, Allen County.
