Donald W. Dafforn, 78, of Churubusco, passed on April 23, 2025, just one day shy of his 79th birthday.
He was born in Allen County on April 24, 1946, to the late Robert and Mary (Deam) Dafforn. He spent his formative years in Eel River Township and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1964.
Following high school, he served in the United States Army for two years during the Vietnam War.
Don married Karen Marie Duncan in Allen County, on August 16, 1980. She preceded him in death on October 16, 2012.
Don was a lifelong resident of the area, calling Churubusco his home. He was a respected and hardworking farmer, dedicating 31 years to Salomon Farms in Churubusco and later contributing his skills and expertise to Steinbarger Welding and Farm. He was an active community member, serving on the Board of Directors of Northeastern REMC and participating in the American Legion Post #157, National Tractor Pulling Association, and Antique Tractor Pulling Association. His love for modified trucks and tractor pulling was not just a hobby but a passion that led him to win numerous championships and titles.
Don is survived by his children, Tammy (David) Karr, Trinna (Ty) Keener, Kimberly (Fred) Yagodinski, Tim (Susie) Frazier, and Kris (Brad) Gemme; his brother, Roger Dafforn; a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Hasson; his grandchildren, Dustin (Nikki) Karr, Tristan (Chelsea) Karr, Austin (Caitlin) Karr, Kaitlin Karr, Bailey (Jason) Miller, Jacey (Fox) Clifford, Garrett Keener, Katy Yagodinski, Nick (Alexis) Yagodinski, Emily Yagodinski, Sarah Frazier, Claire Frazier, Amelia Frazier, Madilyn Gemme, and Chelsea Gemme; six great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Stella, Madison, Kingsley, Miles, and Scout.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Dafforn; a son, Terry Lynn Frazier; a sister-in-law, Judy Dafforn.
A funeral service will occur at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, with calling one hour before the service.
The family will also receive family and friends at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at the Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.
