Donald Lothamer

Donald Francis Lothamer, 90, of LaOtto, passed away at 10:15 p.m. on March 24, 2017 in Fort Wayne. Born on February 7, 1927 in Fort Wayne a son of Cletus and Anna (Lucas) Lothamer. He spent his formative years in Fort Wayne and graduated from Central Catholic High School. After high school, he served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Donald retired from the Fort Wayne Park and Rec in 1990 after 30 years. He enjoyed being outside farming, fishing, hunting, gardening, and he even raised bees. Raising Belgian horses was his passion. Donald is survived by his wife of 69 years, Donna (Downing) Lothamer of LaOtto; six children, Linda (Roger) Gick, Robert (Karen) Lothamer both of Fort Wayne, Diana Heath of Churubusco, Tim (Bev) Lothamer of Roanoke, and Ken Lothamer of Fort Wayne; three brothers, Larry (Marcellene) Lothamer, James Lothamer and Herbert (Karen) Lothamer both of Fort Wayne; two sisters Geraldine Bailey of Chicago, Il and Rosemary Grist of Rome City; 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son Stephen Lothamer;two grandsons, Terry Linn and Chad Linn; five brothers. Visiting hours will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on March 30, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. or one hour prior to the service. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m., at St. Joe Community Church, 2900 N. Anthony Blvd. Fort Wayne, IN 46805, on March 31, 2017, with Pastor Greg Byman. Burial will follow at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the family.
