Donald E. Mueller, known to loved ones as Don, was called Home on July 19, 2024. Born in Fort Wayne, on May 16, 1937, to the late Martin and Esther (Harmeyer) Mueller, Don grew up in Fort Wayne and spent the majority of his adult life in Churubusco. A devoted husband, Don shared 53 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Connie (Warman) Mueller, after they wed on July 18, 1971 in Reno NV.
Don dedicated over 40 years to Dana Corporation in Churubusco before retiring. He served in several capacities including packaging engineer, maintenance supervisor and was on call 24/7 to handle any emergencies at the plant. Don instilled a love for golf and bowling in his son, Doug, and played in several leagues over the years. He enjoyed traveling to visit family, mowing the lawn, maintaining his vehicles and working on his numbers as his grandchildren would say. Don loved spending countless hours combing through car lots looking for new vehicles. Above all, Don cherished time spent with his grandchildren and supporting them at all of their activities and sporting events.
Don is survived by his wife, Connie; his son, Doug (Tara) Tonkel; his grandchildren, Kobe, Makenzi, Zoie, and Carson Tonkel; a sister-in-law, Betsy Warman; a brother-in-law, Jim Hicks; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard, Robert, Jack, and James Mueller; and his sisters, Betty Shanks, Judy Hicks, and Doris Roberson.
