Dorcas J. Pressler, 81, a resident of Churubusco and widow of Donald "Tod" Pressler, passed away at 1:54 a. m. on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Lutheran Life Villages Pine Valley in Fort Wayne following an extended illness. Mrs. Pressler was born on August 22, 1933 in Green Township in Noble County, a daughter of Ted and Carnie (Herron) Pippenger, and spent her formative years on the family farm there. On July 16, 1949 she was married in Merriam to Donald J. "Tod" Pressler, and had lived in the Churubusco-area all of her adult life. Employed at General Electric in Fort Wayne, she retired from there after 39 years. She was a member of Believer's Bible Fellowship in Churubusco. She enjoyed spending winters in Ruskin, Florida and during the summer months enjoyed her cottage on Lake George. In her leisure time she enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, visiting with friends, and especially loved her grandchildren. Mr. Pressler preceded her in death on April 12, 2011. The surviving relatives include her daughter Diana (Bill Swinehart) Liechty of Churubusco; three brothers Jim (Carolyn) Pippenger, and Ted (Terri) Pippenger, both of Churubusco, and Dan (Linda) Pippenger of Gibson Fla; three sisters Esther Anderson of Churubusco, Ruth Pressler of Columbia City, and Naomi (Paul) Coats of Fort Wayne; her grandchildren David Liechty of St. Joe, Lori (Jacob) Black of Naperville, Ill., and Kristina (Greg) Zelt-Reynolds of Leo; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Douglas Pressler; and by three brothers Dave L. Pippenger, Paul Pippenger, and Phillip Pippenger. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Monday, September 15, 2014, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Robert C. Siegrist, pastor of Believer's Bible Fellowship, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 5 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Monday morning.
