Doris Baker

Doris E. Baker, 93, of Garrett, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at her home. She was born on June 21, 1929, in Fort Wayne, to the late Ferman and Marian (Cross) Bloom. She spent her formative years in Allen County. Doris was married to Vernon Baker on July 22, 1947. He preceded her in death on December 30, 1992. After Vernon's death, Doris moved to her current home in Garrett. Doris had a giving heart and would knit or crochet blankets to give to area hospitals and nursing homes. She loved to spend time with her family and her dogs. She enjoyed cooking, baking, bird watching, and watching the Price is Right or her Soaps. Doris is survived by five sons, Richard, Terry, Michael, Mark, and Doug Baker; two daughters, Deborah Albin and Michelle (Neal) Weldon; 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by a son, Danny Baker; two grandchildren, Adam and Jena Baker; a great-grandchild, Troy Baker. Funeral services will be held at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with calling one hour prior to the service. The family will also receive family and friends at the funeral home, on Friday, July 22, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.
