Doris J. (Christlieb) Jones, 68, a resident of Altona near Garrett, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 10:13 a. m. at the Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She had been taken to the hospital on Friday after suffering an apparent heart attack at her home. Ms. Jones was born in Garrett on June 2, 1944, a daughter of Milton W. and Lucy Marie (Anderson) Christlieb. She spent her formative years in DeKalb County and graduated from Garrett High School with the Class of 1962. Although she had spent most of her life in the Garrett-area, she had lived in Fort Wayne for a period before returning to the family home in Altona in 2008. Employed at several area factories over the years, she had last worked at Zolner Piston in Fort Wayne. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening, fishing, sewing, square dancing and most especially loved and cherished her daughters and granddaughters. The surviving relatives include her daughters Brenda L. (Douglas W.) Targgart of Wolcottville and Angela Kay Jones of Massillon, Ohio; a brother Lee (Janice) Christlieb of Avilla; two sisters Vivian (Max) DePew of Churubusco and Fay Holbrook of Garrett; and two granddaughters Desiree Lynn Jones and Taylor Nicole Targgart. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Bud Owen of the First Church of Christ, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Tuesday morning. Interment will be in the Hooper-King Cemetery, southwest of Avilla.
