Doris Jean Malcolm, 80, of LaOtto, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
She was born in Fort Wayne on July 21, 1944. She spent her formative years in Allen County and graduated from Huntertown High School.
Jean was a devoted wife to the late Kenneth Malcolm, whom she married on May 1, 1965, and spent many cherished years with until his passing on August 24, 2023.
Jean was a true farm wife. She cared for the needs of the family and enjoyed every bit of it. Her true joy was caring for her family and serving others.
She devoted her time to being a caring mother, a devoted grandmother, and a proud member of the Dayspring Community Church. Jean's contributions to the church food staff and her tireless efforts in providing funeral dinners will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Sam (Jonell) Malcolm, their children, Maranda, Micah, Madilyn, Makenna, Malachi, and Merek; her daughter, Julie (Ben) Kelham, their children, Cole, Olivia, Graham, Bailey, Kashen, and Knox; her siblings, Carroll (Gerald) Bowker, Linda Hendrickson, and Lelia (David) Arnos.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys (Wells) Harshbarger.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Monday, September 2, 2024, with calling one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive friends and family on Sunday, September 1, 2024, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in the Huntertown Cemetery.
