Dorothy Duff-Harmeyer

Dorothy Duff Harmeyer, 94, of Fort Wayne, passed away on April 18, 2020, at Lutheran Life Villages in Fort Wayne. Born in Lake Twp., Allen County, on January 30, 1926, to the late Paul and Edith (Felger) Holt. She spent her formative years in Arcola, graduating from Arcola High School in 1944. Dorothy was married to Duane Duff, on February 2, 1947. He preceded her in death on November 1, 1980. Together they operated Duffy's Sales & Service in Fort Wayne and she retired in 1983. She also worked at General Electric for fourteen years and Gassafy Flowers for five years Dorothy was married to Louis C. Harmeyer on June 17, 1995. They enjoyed wintering in Florida and summers at Sylvan Lake. He preceded her on October 7, 2011. She was a member of Suburban Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She also served as a foster parent for many years. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Tami (Thomas) Garman; her son, Larry Duff; her step-children, Darwin (Sheryl) Harmeyer, Barry (Diane) Harmeyer, Elaine (Ron) Ahrens, Janet Doner, Rosalie (Tom) Welch and Rhonda Harmeyer; a sister, Lois Grim; two grandchildren, Chad (Nicole) Happel and Jeremy (Nicole) Happel; several step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, Summer, Hailey, Danielle and Calliann; many step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Holt; a sister, Ruth Krotke; a stepson, Craig Harmeyer; a stepson-in-law, Jeff Doner. A private family service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2020, at 2:00 PM. Burial taking place at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
